Aim: To study the clinical correlation of verbal learning and memory in subjects with seizure disorders. Methods: The study was conducted in a tertiary care hospital over a period of 1yr after taking informed consent from 100 patients by random sampling after fulfilling the inclusion criteria. Results: In our study, we found that seizure frequency >10 episodes/years was positively associated but not statistically significant with verbal learning and memory{AVLT(NC)-39%, AVLT(IR)-27%, AVLT(DR)-32%}. Conclusions: High educational level, well controlled seizure and healthy psychological state are protectivefactors for cognitive function of epileptic patients. |
