Background:Knee osteoarthritis (OA), often referred to as degenerative joint disease, primarily arises from the cumulative effects of mechanical stress and the gradual deterioration of articular cartilage. The present for comparing PRP vs Long-acting steroid in Osteoarthritis of knee (Grade 2 and 3). Materials & methods:A total of 40 patients with presence of Osteoarthritis of knee (Grade 2 and 3) were enrolled. Complete demographic and clinical details of all the patients was obtained. Pre-treatment pain was assessed by VAS on a scale of 0 to 10. Two study groups were formed; PRP group and long-standing steroid group. All the patients received treatment according to their respective study groups. Follow-up was done. All the patients underwent pain evaluation at different follow-up time intervals. All the results were recorded and analyzed using SPSS software. Results:Mean age of the patients of PRP group and Long-acting steroid group was 53.8 years and 55.1 years respectively. Pain improvement was significantly better among patients of PRP group. Conclusion:The administration of PRP injections demonstrates more beneficial outcomes than CS injections in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, particularly in terms of pain reduction.
